Project 3: Social Inference and Threat. D. Mobbs, PI; C. Camerer, Co-PI

This project is a new counterpart to Project 2, asking how social inference relates to making decisions under social threatening contexts. It is led by new faculty Dean Mobbs, who starting at Caltech summer, 2016, together with senior faculty Colin Camerer. A particular focus will be to quantify social threat under ecologically valid paradigms more representative of the real world. Is social threat processed by neural systems different from those that process basic biological threat? Does social group membership provide buffers for social threat?
