Project 5: Social Inference and the Prefrontal Cortex. D. Tranel, PI

Building on the lesion component we had in Project 4 of our previous Conte Center, this Project will use patients with focal brain lesions to test a series of hypothesis-driven questions about what is arguably the single brain region most important to social decision-making: the prefrontal cortex. The Aims are supported by strong pilot data and derive directly from open questions in our previous Conte Center. As with Project 4, the very same patients will also undergo fMRI studies, enabling a novel Aim on compensation.
